How Does Nanobubble Generation Compare to Traditional Bubble Aerators?

Although Moleaer nanobubble generators and traditional aerators serve the same purpose - degrading toxic gases and oxygenating pond water - nanobubbles use a very different method to achieve this. Traditional aerators lay on the bottom of a pond and spray large air bubbles upwards. This mixes the pond water to push toxic gases to the surface and remove them from the pond, but in doing so cause the consistent off-gassing of valuable oxygen that would be beneficial to the pond ecosystem if they stayed in the water, which is where nanobubbles come in.

Nanobubble Generators

Nanobubble generators extract water from the pond and treat it by injecting oxygen directly into the impaired water and placing it back into the pond (at a rate of up to 150 gallons per minute). This treated water, freshly rejuvenated with tiny, neutrally buoyant oxygen bubbles, mixes into the rest of the pond to increase the dissolved oxygen of the pond. This improves the water clarity by breaking down muck and algae, providing oxygen to encourage fauna health, and killing blue-green algae and other harmful microscopic organisms (such as cyanobacteria and other E Coli).

Nanobubble aeration is more beneficial than traditional aeration because the process of off-gassing takes longer with nanobubbles, meaning the vital oxygen has more time to dissolve and mix with the pond water. In fact, where other methods of pond aeration have a maximum oxygen transfer efficiency (OTE) of around 40 percent, nanobubble generators provide an OTE of over 85 percent regardless of water depth.
